The band soon developed into a Christian rock band that now ministers for various church functions, youth gatherings, public events, concerts, morning worship services on the beach/boardwalk, and various other youth and church events throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and anywhere else they can go.
AIM FC is a Christian rock band from southern New Jersey who loves to minister through playing music.
The band began about three years ago when the church's former assistant pastor requested that a band play music for the kids before Sunday School. At first Alissa Bleazard, the band's current guitarist, began playing along with some of the adults in their church each week. As that year went on, one by one the adults were replaced with other young musicians, and the band eventually ended up with eight members. The band called themselves Aim FC (Aim For Christ) and started leading short praise services every Sunday morning and once a month at a Saturday evening contemporary service.
In the spring of 2004 Aim FC recorded a live demo CD at a little church in Ventnor, New Jersey. On the CD they covered bands such as the Newsboys, Paul Colman, Relient K, Lincoln Brewster, Audio Adrenaline and Superchic[k], and contained one original song written by Alissa Bleazard. Then in January 2005 they recorded their first CD of mostly original tunes entitled "Waves".
When writing these songs the band tried to provide a wide range of music that everyone could listen to and have fun participating in. Their songs are written about experiences everyone encounters in todays environment, and are also uplifting songs, praising the Lord, our Savior. So far the band has sold over 1,000 cds.
Currently the band consists of four members; Alissa Bleazard (guitar and vocals), Jessica Coulon (keyboards and vocals), Erica Popkin (bass), and Ian Townsend (drums). The rhythm section keeps the energy flowing and the other musicians and vocalists add the essentials that enable anyone and everyone to praise and worship God in a way that the band believes can only be experienced through music.
Today's music environment seems to focus on sex, drugs, suicide, and peer pressure, which are brought about by the demands of our society. Aim FC wants their music to move in a different direction, so they can try to reach out to people who simply need a friend, or need a stronger foundation to help them find their way in life. They want to help people find their true path by supporting them as they search for their uniqueness, strengths and special gifts that the band believes each and everyone one of us possess. However, they don't want to hide behind religion when dealing with these pressures, demands, and anxieties. Instead, the band wants to help others deal with their troubles by finding peace within God's love and light, and then help them share this love so that they might strengthen themselves and others. Feeling oneness with each other is something the band tries to achieve whenever they play. They believe everyone has a special gift which can only be carried out to its fullest by sharing. When this is done, you will be happier and others will be blessed.
